YCP Video Toaster Tester
 connects to: ISA

The VTT is designed to fit into an 8-bit ISA slot and is for use with the Video Toaster (incidentally it is also compatible with the PC version). It doesn't require active ISA slots because it only draws power from the slot.

The YCP-VTT is designed to eliminate several Newtek Video ToasterTM problems and to keep your Desktop video workstation in top form, with minimal down time. As a bonus, the YCP-VTT also offers a quick check of your Amiga or PC (IBM) power supply. Some of the most common problems, such as "ToasterTM Not Responding", "ToasterTM Will Not Genlock" and "ToasterTM Will Not Auto Hue" are in many cases eliminated. The YCP-VTT is designed to calibrate the Video Toaster'sTM on- board crystal oscillator, without special tools or special knowledge. The YCP-VTT is designed to be installed, perform the necessary procedures and THEN BE REMOVED. Your computer housing WILL NOT go back on with the YCP-VTT in place.

WARNING: The VTT should not be connected to JP2 on the Video Toaster. It should only be connected to JP6 otherwise you will damage your hardware.

1. Connect the ribbon cable to JP6 on the top of the video toaster
2. Reconnect the power cable and start the video toaster. Even though the video toaster may not boot you should hear an audio tone from the VTT. If not then read the trouble shooting section.
3. You can now adjust the trimmer pot of the video toaster.
4. The tone emitting from the VTT will go high or low depending on which way you adjust the trimmer pot. Adjust the tone to go low. Slowly turn the trimmer pot until the tone is slowly clicking. The slower the clicking the more accurate the calibration. An oscilloscope can be connected to the test points. 5. All four LEDs will light if your power supply is within 0.2 volts of the stated value. Connection of a voltmeter to the test leads for additional verification of the voltage if the voltage tests low.

Troubleshooting

If one or more of the LEDs are not lit, connect a voltmeter to the test leads to verify the actual volatge. Different components of the computer may not work or different functions will not work if the voltage levels are incorrect.

If there is no audio tone, try re-booting the video toaster again. Reconnect the video cable, pin alignment is critical. If you still do not hear a tone, then its possible the toaster has failed.

If after calibration the toaster still does not boot, if video has be connected to number #1 input then disconnect and reboot. If the video toaster boots stand-alome, its probable that the incoming video sync is off frequency.
