The device is not related to the CD1200 prototype CDROM. It is a replacement controller for the CDTV which includes a trackball for mouse controlling. The CD1200 also includes a pair of standard Amiga joystick ports which allows the joysticks to be used remotely from the CDTV as the CD1200 uses infra-red to communicate with the CDTV. The CD1200 has an automatic switch-off mode it it hasn't been used in a while, to conserve the batteries.
